SCENIC were instrumental in the development of the ‘Cruise Liner’ theme for the roof gardens working with the architects (DLN) and interior designers (CREAM) to create a seamless connection between communal interior and exterior space. The building responds to its place in the landscape with key views taking advantage of the Hong Kong skyline, Victoria Harbour and the mountain backdrop. The resident’s clubhouse on the roof includes the 25 metre long edgeless Infinity Sky Pool, and series of landscaped outdoor rooms themed for the enjoyment of residents. The landscape aimed to create a layered greening composition visible at different levels through the building functioning to soften the built lines and impart a human scale to the development. The open topped atrium and arcade are influenced by Japanese alleyways on the ground floor, and in the Food and Leisure Avenue at the podium. These influences are reflected in the hard and soft landscape design which views these vernacular traditions through a contemporary lens including the use of multi-levelled flowering plants and traditional materials.
